The son of a San Francisco banker, Robert Rebholtz, Sr. is an unlikely cowboy. As a child, Bob spent his summers working at a Basque lamb operation in Stockton, CA. It is here he developed his passion of ranching and livestock that would shape the course of his life.
In 1968, he purchased Snake River Cattle Feeders and founded Agri Beef with the ambitious goal of producing the world’s highest quality beef. A small, family operation at the start, Agri Beef gradually expanded to include every step of the beef supply chain, from ranch to table.
As happens so often in a family-run business, the day-to-day leadership of the company has passed on from father to son.
Today Robert Rebholtz, Jr. continues to build on his father’s vision and the core values of Agri Beef—leadership, integrity, and innovation—to create exceptional beef in harmony with the environment and our Northwest ranching traditions.
Ranching culture is deeply ingrained into Kent and Lana Clark. Born into the industry, Kent grew up on a family ranch in Drewsey, OR, and Lana on a ranch in Lakeview, OR. They have managed Agri Beef’s Double R Ranch since April 2011, working tirelessly to improve the cowherd. A tight-knit, supportive family of six, they take pride in teaching a great respect for agriculture to their children.
Second-generation rancher Cam Curtiss and his wife, Jennie, share a deep reverence for the land around Klamath Falls, OR. Like many of Agri Beef’s producers, sustainability and conservation of the environment are at the forefront of the Curtiss’ day-to-day operations and are what make Rock Creek Ranch especially unique. The Curtiss family is especially proud of their efforts to restore and protect the ranches many riparian and wetland areas.
George and Christine McArthur, of McArthur, CA, have operated McArthur livestock since 1988, but the McArthur family’s ranching heritage reaches back to the 1840’s. Not only was the family instrumental in homesteading the area, but they also serve as leaders in the beef community today. Their efforts to improve their pasture and rangeland and promote healthy habits for wildlife have helped secure the ranch’s future. George and Christine hope to pass along the ranch to their sons John and Scott so that they may continue to build upon their family’s ranching traditions.
Dan Hammond of American Falls, ID, began his career at Snake River Cattle, an Agri Beef company, in 1973. Now he works with his wife Karen at D and K Farms, running their own cattle feeding business. Dan was a member of the team that pioneered the Agri Beef STAR commitment to Sustainability, Total Quality, Animal Well-Being and Responsibility. Dan says he has always been proud to work for a leader in the field of sustainability, implementing sustainable practices, from the ranch all the way to the table.
In 1878, Joseph and Amanda Gill brought their family west from Indiana to Lucile, ID. Today great-grandson Melvin, his wife Midge, great-great granddaughter Shelly, her husband Garrett, Marty, his wife, and son Drew, all work together to ensure the success of Gill Ranches. The Gill family quite possibly holds the record for the longest continuous residence in Idaho County. Sustainability has been the key for them to maintain their ranching way of life. Their long ranching history illustrates their commitment to ranching.
John Hepton of Nampa, ID, has been raising and feeding cattle for almost 20 years. With a master’s degree in cattle nutrition, he has a passion for creating diets that meet the needs of the growing cattle. John sources high-quality Northwest cattle, and then feeds them a premium diet of grains, hay and renewable feeds sourced from local and Northwest farmers, whenever possible. John believes this is what makes the difference, allowing him to raise the highest quality cattle for the Double R Ranch brand.
Kurt Neff of Blackfoot, ID, along with his wife Amy, and four children (Dylan, Tayson, Rylee, and Brook) are one of the many suppliers who raise and feed cattle for Agri Beef and the Double R Ranch brand. Starting as a teenager, Kurt has grown his family business to include a substantial herd of mother cows, and a backgrounding operation where he feeds cattle before they go to an Agri Beef feedyard. After 15 years, Kurt and his family understand our STAR commitment to Sustainability, Total Quality, Animal Well-Being and Responsibly, and are proud to be one of the many families bringing sustainability raised Double R Ranch beef to dinner tables across America.
Prescott Land & Livestock is a unique cattle operation, integrating sustainable grazing practices, science-based breeding practices, modern animal production practices, and the production of high quality beef. Roy Prescott and his family are adamant on sustainable stewardship of the land. “If we’re not good stewards, it impacts the land; and in turn, impacts us.” Roy teaches this to all of his grandchildren, so the next generation of cattleman or cattlewoman is ready to take the helm.
